BIG and OMEN extend their strategic partnership

Berlin, July 2nd, 2019 – OMEN by HP and BIG extend their strategic partnership and expand academy cooperation to foster young talents.

Starting in July 2018, OMEN and the leading German Esports Organization Berlin International Gaming have been working closely in a strategic partnership. The core aspect of the cooperation is the development of talents within the BIG. OMEN Academy Team as well as the production and release of high-quality, educational content for aspiring players on the OMEN Academy platform.

In October 2018, the official BIG. OMEN Academy team was presented to the public after an intensive five-week application and casting phase.

During the course of the casting phase, hundreds of applications, replays, and letters of motivation were reviewed by the expert team of BIG and OMEN to identify selected talents. Subsequently, a highly talented junior team was agreed upon, which, with an average age of just over 18 years, also provided the necessary opportunities for progression.

After a successful start, the team was able to work its way up to the national top within eight months and qualified for the 1st division of the 99Damage league.

In May 2019 the two top talents David “prosus” Hesse and Michael “devraNN” Geutebrück joined the academy team as new members. In addition, the coaching staff of the BIG. OMEN Academy team got extended by multiple major participant Kevin “kRYSTAL” Amend. “Our Academy Team had a sensational start and was able to qualify for one of the highest German leagues within a very short time, also thanks to the intensive support of our coaching staff and OMEN. The continuous development of our academy staff department has top priority for us, as a strong junior talent pool offers additional options for our professional division,” notes BIG CEO Daniel Finkler.

In addition to equipping the professional teams with powerful OMEN hardware, BIG continues to be part of the OMEN Academy, a communication platform to improve the skills of amateur players and aspiring talents, and together with the team’s professional players, produces educational training formats. Furthermore, entertaining show events round off the partnership. “With OMEN we have a very multi-faceted partnership and a common goal: We want to take esports to a new level and offer young talents opportunities to step up. The cooperation is very close and with the BIG. OMEN Academy Team we have created an important institution that will help our club in the long term. I am very much looking forward to continuing this success story”, Daniel Finkler affirms.

The agency OMG FUSE is responsible for the concept and implementation. OMG FUSE created the OMEN Academy with HP, a completely independent format for HP’s performance gaming brand that is unique in the German esports and gaming market.
