You made it to the top 4. A wild derby is behind you. How do you look back on the PRM Cup, and what did you think of this format?
Looking back, it was a total success for me, even though we only made it to the top 4. Personally, I was very overwhelmed by the whole situation at first. I had just moved into the gaming house, played from there, and the cameras were set up everywhere. Even though the people around me, including the players and coaches, made me feel safe, I was still very nervous. But I think the cup prepared me really well for next year. I'm less nervous now, I have more confidence, and I know where my weaknesses were.
Overall, I thought the format was pretty good, because Div 2 and Div 3 teams also had solid chances. Personally, of course, I would have liked to play against even more Div 1 teams. But that will come next year!
You joined BIG in September. What was that like?
It was a feeling I had never had before in my life. Ever since I was younger, esports has meant everything to me. When I got the message from Outlandisch inviting me to the tryouts, I cried and was simply the happiest person alive. In the tryouts, I obviously gave it my all and showed my best side. I know this is going to be a very long and great journey with BIG, and I'm very confident that we will be successful. I can prove myself now because I have everything I need. BIG is super friendly and supports me a lot.
How important is the jungle role on a team, and what does it come down to? How would you describe your personal style—especially compared to Rulfchen?
The most important things in the jungle are definitely decision-making and the knowledge you have, for example when it comes to matchups. If you have a good overview of the game, then as a jungler you usually always know what you need to do.
Rulfchen was a very controlled jungler and often played for scaling with the team. Since I've been here, we've had a lot of games that were already over in 20 minutes—especially in scrims. We push the limit very hard and try to get a lot out of the early game, for example through invades.
The jungle role is definitely the core role on the team. For the first 15 minutes, I'm basically the one who decides what we do and how we play. Of course, it always depends on how the lanes are going. I think I'm a very good jungler when it comes to reacting to lane situations and game plans. That's what we're going to build on next year as well.
On top of that, there are also mechanics on certain champions, limits, or jungle clearing. Those are things that only affect the jungler themselves. I think good shotcalling, a certain amount of confidence, and a proper overview of the game are important factors that determine a jungler's performance.
How are you spending the time between splits right now?
Between splits, I'm going to focus on the mistakes I made in the Winter Cup. I'll reflect, work on fixing my mistakes, and improve wherever I can. I'm also watching VODs and playing SoloQ so I can keep developing my mechanics.
Your goals for the coming year?
My goals for next year are definitely to become a jungler who plays at LEC level. BIG gave me this chance, and I won't let anyone down here—especially not myself. I know I can do it, and I'll do everything I can to become the best jungler in the Prime League.
