Berlin, July 25, 2024 — Berlin International Gaming (BIG) today announced its partnership with BWI GmbH, the Bundeswehr's primary digitalization partner.
As part of the partnership, BWI will support BIG's Counter-Strike 2 Male & Female Teams (BIG EQUIPA) as well as BIG's Trackmania team. The BWI logo will be featured on BIG jerseys and across the team's digital channels. In addition, joint appearances at trade shows and events are planned to increase reach and visibility and create synergies in employer branding.
BWI is one of Germany's largest IT service companies. In peacetime, crisis, and war, it provides the Bundeswehr with stable, secure, and efficient IT services at home and abroad. In doing so, it contributes to the continuous enhancement of command and operational capability as well as the combat effectiveness of the armed forces. Since its founding in 2006, BWI has significantly expanded its service portfolio. It provides expert consulting. It also develops new IT solutions for the Bundeswehr quickly – "innovativ by design". And it is a central force in building and expanding a resilient partner ecosystem. As an attractive employer, BWI attracts and retains highly qualified professionals who advance Bundeswehr IT out of conviction. Nearly 7,000 employees nationwide now stand behind BWI's vision as a "Team of Teams": to ensure Bundeswehr IT and thus Germany's digital future viability.
"We are very happy about BWI's trust in us as their first partner in gaming and esports," says Daniel Finkler, CEO & Co-Founder of BIG. "In addition to digital formats and support for our globally established Trackmania as well as Counter-Strike 2 male and female teams, we are planning joint activities and events. We are excited to have BWI by our side and look forward to our shared future."
Sport business agency SPORTFIVE brokered the deal between BWI and BIG. The cooperation underscores the growing importance of partnerships between companies and the esports industry.
