Berlin, January 16th 2022 – Our new Valorant line-up start their VCT campaign with success, fighting their way through the qualifiers and securing a spot in the EMEA Challengers stage!
In October 2021 we doubled our competitive Valorant efforts and brought aboard rookies Kasper “Kaspe” Timonen and Karel “Twisten” Ašenbrener to bolster our roster. Quickly reaching success in regional tournaments and leagues, we embarked on our VCT campaign in January as we registered for the first open qualifier.
In the open qualifier only the top four out of 256 had the opportunity to advance to the closed qualifiers. Winning six games in a row, we were able to become one of the four teams that advanced. Despite winning our opening game in the closed qualifier against Alliance, we dropped to the lower bracket following a close loss against Vitality. The team then rallied behind captain Fatih “gob b” Dayik and fought their way to the lower final, where they took down Vitality with a clean 3:0 and advanced to the EMEA Challengers!
BIG was the only German team to make it to this stage of the events, and we have the hopes and dreams of the whole region on our shoulders. We now have the opportunity to show our strength against the best teams in Europe, and continue our campaign to bring home great results #FÜRDACH! We would like to give special thanks to our partner OMEN, whose support and belief in our Valorant project has played a key role in making this possible.
